Energy Night

Energy Night

The EHS Science Club and Green Team were pleased to sponsor a local Energy Night in conjunction with Bruce Night at the high school basketball games on the evening of Friday, January 6, 2017.

Student leaders ran stations on energy efficiency and energy exploration, and community members were able to explore light, color, sound waves, and energy use, as well as try out pedaling the Energy Bike.

The Energy Bike allows the user to see how much energy is required to light up different types of light bulbs.  While it is easy to pedal and light up the LED and CFL energy-efficient bulbs, it takes much more work to light up the traditional incandescent light bulb because 90% of the energy is lost as heat.

Thanks to Eaton Athletics, the Ohio Energy Project, DP&L, and Vectren Energy for their support of Energy Night!

Calamity Day Schedule

With winter rapidly approaching, the Eaton Community School District is preparing for possible calamity days.  For the 2016-2017 school year, the make-up schedule will be as follows:

Calamity Days 1 – 5 :  Students will not make up these days.

Calamity Days 6 – 8 :  Students will make up these days through eDay Lessons.*

Any additional calamity days will be made up using the following schedule:

  • January 17
  • February 10
  • March 24
  • Added to the end of the year as needed

*As a reminder, eDay lessons are electronic lessons used for academic make up of calamity days.  Eaton Community Schools will be using eDays as a method for making up calamity days 6, 7 and 8.  Students without internet access will receive paper copies of the lessons upon return to school.  All students will have two (2) weeks to complete the assigned work from the eDay lesson.

Additional information concerning eDay lessons will be available at a later time.

Vision & Hearing Screening

As mandated by the Ohio Revised Code 3313.69  Eaton Community Schools Health Services will screen vision and/or hearing of all students in grades K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11  and students new to the district, or as requested by staff or parent.  Parents will be notified by mail if physician follow-up is recommended.
